AUTHOR: The Apostle John.
THEME: The second epistle of John deals with the practice of the truth. The apostle writes this letter to a Christian lady and her family with the intention of instructing them in their treatment of false teachers, not to give them hospitality. Those who implanted false teachings were a dangerous problem for the Church, as they attacked the foundations of Christianity. The word truth is used five times in the first four verses [2Jo 1:1-4] “I love in the truth”, “They know the truth”, “The truth that abides in us”, “Grace, mercy and peace [ …] will be with us in truth and in love”, “walking in truth”.
COMPILATION: Probably in Ephesus, between the years 85 and 90 AD. It is the smallest book in the bible consisting of 1 chapter and 13 verses.
